Kelly Wearstler, founder and principal of Kelly Wearstler, is an American designer creating multi-faceted, experiential residential, hospitality, commercial and retail environments as well as expansive collections of lifestyle product designs. With the demonstration of provocative concepts and expressive narratives signature to her extensive body of work, Wearstler is internationally recognized with distinctive design awards and numerous publications.
"Among Wearstler’s most notable projects is the Doheny Residence, located in Beverly Hills, CA. This 1956 Hal Levitt home epitomized mid-century architecture and the indoor-outdoor lifestyle for which California is known. The ebullient interiors were chronicled in Kelly's second book, Domicilium Decoratus. To re-ignite the estate's classic bones, she used a thoughtfully curated collection of vintage furniture, luxury objects, and finishes to create a lasting impression."

To create a rich, well-traveled look, Moorish chairs, antique Khotan rugs, hand-painted wall coverings, and millwork in dry brush finishes and hand-carved cabinetry were used. The color scheme included shades of eggplant, vermillion and papaya with touches of brass to play off the outdoor greenery that was visible from the home's plentiful floor-to-ceiling windows.
An elegant hybrid of pedigreed vintage and contemporary furnishings blended seamlessly with an unexpected materials palette of onyx, marble, and polished stone.
